After watching the CNET video, please answer the following question:
Why do you think that it is necessary to use a "fake" phone number when texting or calling? Please give an example of a situation in which you would want to use your phone by using a phone number that wasn't yours. Decide which one of the apps shown would work best for you, and explain why.
Its useful because if your texting someone that yo dont want them to have your phone number.
ReplyDeleteA situation that would require you to use a fake number, could be a job where your identity must be concealed to protect your identity and your employer. Another situation is if your hiding from someone looking for you, so with the risk of revealing yourself to talk to them is kept at a minimal. So apps that do this can help someone in hiding, but it can also be used by those with darker deeds in mind. An app that can help most with this is the Hush app since it auto deletes any trace of the contacted parties communication with the user. So this app would be a very useful thing for anyone who is in hiding.
ReplyDeleteIf you use a fake number then someone who you know that you would not like to have your number will not. Then also if you have two numbers you can give the people you want to have your real number it and the people you dont the fake number.
ReplyDeleteI think the Hush one because a lot of people don't like when other people can go on an app and read their messages. As in if i wanted to do something without people knowing they wouldn't be able to be in my business because the messages will be gone. But yes some times it is necessary because if you wanna hide and act like someone else to find something out.
ReplyDeleteIt is alot safer in the world to use a fake phone number because there are many people in the world that you do not want to have your number. I would not really want to use a fake phone number because I really have no reason to. I believe the one where it deletes text and pictures could be nice because sometimes you have to hide things from others that you do not want them knowing.
ReplyDeleteIt will be absolutely necessary for prank calls/texts, in my experience, that is. Also, if you want to call back an untrustworthy number this is a good option. It will also work for texting an untrustworthy number. Another plus is if you don't want your phone number given out in general. For all the positives though, I'm sure there are more negatives. Also Josh said it could be used to crank call government facilities with 'his demands'.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very good app and it is absolutely necessary if you own a business. Also Logan says it is necessary for prank calls and texts due to the many different numbers you can choose. Although this is true I think this is completely wrong to do because you can get in big trouble if you use it wrongly. It can help with having a number for each person you know but it would be ever so pointless. If you want to prank call the FBI like Logan did then use this app.
ReplyDeleteI think its necessary to use a fake phone when calling or texting when a number keeps calling and texting you and you don't know who it is. I would use a phone that isn't mine when I don't know the number that called or texted me. I would probably use the app that has only 40 texts and 20 minutes to talk to that person just in case you just want to play around with that person.
ReplyDeleteI like the App Hushed. This app allows you to use a different number, but using that app you can basically text people off of it and call them just like it was your own phone. I also like it because it deletes conversations after you read them. This could be a down fall as it is kinda like Snap-chat's chat setting and when I use that I forget what I say. I think it is necessary to use a fake number when a guy that you really don't have an interest in asks for it. I would definitely use the app hushed if I ever ran into a situation where I thought it was necessary to use a fake number.
ReplyDeleteThe video is about how you can keep your phone number private. There are ways you can do this eventually. By making sure like say for an example. You were texting someone and then you delete the messages and then automatically its gone. This is a way you can get rid of someone sending you message and your number.
ReplyDeleteI would only use this to possibly prank call people I knew. Instead of my number coming up it would be a different number so my friends or family members wouldn't know it was me calling them. This would be a great way to play a prank or joke on someone that has had a prank done on me before and it would be funny and harmless revenge. I would most likely use the "burner" app because it has 40 free texts and 20 minutes of calling which is plenty of time and texts to have a prank be done. Also it is compatible with IOS and I have an Iphone so it would be perfect.
ReplyDeleteI think a situation to have a "Fake" number is if you work for the government and you have a job where you must not be know. This way you stay safe by using a fake number not your real one. An app i think will help for this is the hush app. I think this because it deletes your messages and you can private message anyone that also has the app and after you're done it deletes everything.
ReplyDeleteI think it is necessary to use a "fake" phone number because you don't want everyone to know your number. That include those who call your phone claiming you won money or prizes. An example could be an unknown number calls you asking for your social security number to "claim your prize" or asking for your location and name.

You could use a fake number when you are trying to keep a secret from someone. Or you don't want someone to have your real phone number so you give then your fake. Also you and other person are texting each other or calling then you can use a fake number to keep it a secret. To call somewhere you don't want to call with your real number. The app that would best work for me is the burner because it the exact same thing as using a regular phone.
ReplyDeleteI think i would use the Hush app because its a safer thing to use if you don't want anyone having your number. I also think it's an good app to use if you were running a business and didn't want certain people to call your personal phone. I would use that app to call any customer or other businesses.
